Hello Everyone!!!
It's this time of year again when everybody still in some sort of education seems to have a million and 2 deadlines. And I'm one of these people, but this will be for the last time as I've nearly finished my final year of University!!!
I still have 4 deadlines:
Dissertation - this Friday
Presentation - the following Monday
Performance - 15th May
Essay - 5th June (although I plan to hand in 29th May so I can go home earlier and be home for my birthday)
This list doesn't actually seem that big but everything just takes so much time to do!!!
If you're like me and have lots of deadlines, then no doubt you're stressed right now so I thought I would give you some tips to get through the deadline season:
1. Create a Timetable - I have to write down everything I still need do and recently I have created a full timetable of the next few weeks consisting of everything I need to be doing each day. This is something that has helped me keep of track with each of the deadlines and I feel confident I can get everything done and still give myself some free time just to chill :)
2. Have Regular Breaks - There is nothing worse than sitting for hours at your laptop or computer staring at word document that has looked the same for the last hour because you're so tired you feel your brain can't function any more. Give yourself breaks!!! Work solidly for an hour or 2, then give yourself 15-20 breaks for toilet, snacks, and a drink. Keeping dehydrated and filled will help your brain function better and therefore, maybe that word document that hasn't changed in the last 2 days might actually get finished quicker!!!
3. Give Yourself Chill Time - Like I said in point 1, I like to give myself chill time. It's important to do this just so you can give your brain a rest. And I don't just mean in those 15-20 minute breaks I mentioned before. Give yourself a day to just relax, watch films, read a book, do whatever it is that you enjoy when you're having a duvet day!!!
4. Don't Exclude Yourself From Everyone - Although you have so much work to be getting on with, talking to friends and family could help you de-stress. Even if you rant to them about how much work you have to do and how tired and demotivated you are, this will help clear your head.
5. No Procrastination!!! - This is something a lot of us are guilty for. Some of us will do anything to get out of work. I'm a really tidy person so I never have that much to tidy up, but I will create a mess in my room then tidy up to get out of work for half an hour, it's terrible... The timetable you created earlier should help you with procrastination, and don't allow yourself to go to sleep until everything is ticked off on your to do list for that day.
Hopefully these points will help you with those nasty deadlines you have and I wish you all the best of luck!!!
Speak to you all next Sunday when my dissertation will be handed in!!!
