Hello Everyone!!!
Today I would like to talk to you about 'Opinions'. Something happened last week that made me really think about this topic and thought it would be good to discuss.
I have recently read the book Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. I'm sure you've all heard of this book as it's been massively hyped and because of this I went into it with high expectations. Unfortunately I just didn't understand the hype. The idea was fantastic but it was all just too slow for me.
A family member has also read this book and it is one of their favourite books of all time. I listened to what they had to say on it and understood where they were coming from. I then began to tell them my thoughts and instead of listening, they questioned everything I had to say.
It felt to me that they were telling me my opinion was wrong and would only argue all of my points I made.
Now this is only a little situation that happened of course but we come across this in life all the time. Why is it that some people don't accept that everyone is entitled to their own opinion? A lot of people do accept that, but there are also so many that decide if someone has a different opinion to them about something, their opinion is wrong.
This is something I feel quite strongly about and find very aggravating when it happens. I understand that some people feel so strong about their opinion that they don't like to believe there is any other take on the situation, but I definitely think it is important to share opinions and maybe you could actually learn something from this.
To me, I believe everyone's opinion matters and everyone should be able to share their opinion even if this causes debate, Debate isn't a bad thing, it can actually be quite fun, but when it starts turning into an argument, that's when it gets frustrating.
If you've been through a situation like this recently, feel free to share it in the comments, and also let me know what you think about this topic.
I'll speak to you all next Sunday :)
